Investigating Whistleblower Reports

As the former Whistleblower Compliance Officer at UC Irvine for 20 years, I have seen firsthand how complex, sensitive, and high-stakes workplace investigations can become. In that role, I oversaw reports of retaliation, financial misconduct, research compliance issues, and other serious violations. I worked closely with legal counsel, HR leadership, and investigative teams to ensure every case was handled with impartiality, discretion, and strict adherence to policy and law. That experience reinforced the importance of conducting investigations that are both thorough and defensible, while maintaining fairness for all parties involved.
