Protect your financial footprint. Configure your Venmo settings to “𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲” to prevent visibility into your transactions, relationships, and spending patterns. Discretion safeguards both your assets and your reputation.

By default, Venmo transactions are set to "𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰", meaning anyone using the app can see payment activity, even if they are not connected to you. 

John Temblador, President, INWPIA.org. was recently asked to run a social media investigation on a 22-year-old with a very common name. The only clue he had was an old high school football photo showing the subject’s jersey number. By using 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨 (“Google Dorks”) and combining the jersey number with the city and school, John was able to trace connections that ultimately led him to the 𝙨𝙪𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩’𝙨 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. John says that sometimes the key to moving forward is found by looking backward.
