Investigative Interviews and Re-interviews

Interviewing is the core discipline of this practice, and it is the service most often retained after someone else has already spoken to the parties and the account did not hold together.

Allen Morris Investigations conducts structured, documented interviews of witnesses, claimants, employees, subjects, family members, and subject matter experts throughout California and Arizona.

What an Interview Engagement Covers

  • Clarifying an earlier statement and testing it against the documentary record
  • Building a timeline and chronology from what each person actually says
  • Returning to a witness when new information changes the picture
  • Developing leads the first round of interviews did not reach
  • Recorded statements where the law and the engagement permit them
  • Written summaries drafted to be read by someone who was not in the room

Why Re-interviews Matter

First interviews are often conducted quickly, by someone close to the situation, before the documents have been reviewed. What results is a statement that sounds complete and is not. A re-interview conducted against the record surfaces the gaps, and does it without putting the witness on the defensive.

Method

Interviews are conducted under trauma informed protocols where the subject matter calls for them. The aim is an accurate account, not a confession, and the difference shows in how questions are sequenced and how silence is handled.

Credibility is assessed against consistency, corroboration, plausibility, and motive, rather than demeanor alone. Demeanor is the least reliable signal available and it is treated that way.

Who Retains Us

  • Attorneys who need a neutral third party to take a statement
  • Insurance carriers evaluating a claimant account
  • Employers and counsel where an internal interview has already been attempted
  • Boards and nonprofits responding to a complaint about leadership

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the interview be recorded?

Where the law and the engagement permit it, yes. California consent requirements are observed, and the approach is agreed in advance.

Will you interview someone who has already been interviewed?

Frequently. That is the most common reason this service is retained.

Do you provide a transcript or a summary?

A written summary is standard, structured so the account can be followed and tested. Recordings and transcripts are available where appropriate.
